诗篇 42:11
“我的心哪,你为何忧闷? 为何在我里面烦躁? 应当仰望 神,因我还要称赞他。 他是我脸上的光荣 ,是我的 神。”
Hope When Your Soul Hurts
The Sons of Korah wrote Psalm 42 during a time of deep pain. The writers were far from Jerusalem, far from the temple, and it felt like they were far from God. Surrounded by people who mocked their faith, asking "Where is your God?", homesick for worship, longing to be with God's people again. This was not a man sitting on a mountaintop, this was a man in the valley.
Right in the middle of his pain, he does something surprising, he talks to himself, asking his own soul a question: "Why are you so down? Why are you so troubled?" Then he gives his soul an answer: hope in God.
This is one of the most honest and helpful things the Bible teaches us, our feelings are real, but they do not always tell us the truth. We can feel abandoned by God and still be held by Him, feel like praise is impossible and still choose to trust that it is coming. The psalmist does not pretend the pain is gone, he simply refuses to let the pain have the last word.
The core truth here is that hope is not a feeling, it is a choice. The psalmist chooses to look past his present sorrow and trust that he will praise God again. He calls God "my salvation and my God," which is deeply personal. This is not hope in a distant idea, this is hope in a God who knows him by name.
Today, if your soul feels heavy, you can do exactly what the psalmist did. Tell your soul the truth, God has not left you, He is your salvation. The praise will come again, and until it does, you can hold on to the One who is holding you.
You don't have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.— Martin Luther King Jr.
