以赛亚书 40:31
“但那等候耶和华的必重新得力。 他们必如鹰展翅上腾; 他们奔跑却不困倦, 行走却不疲乏。”
You Were Not Made for Fear
Paul wrote these words to Timothy, a young pastor who was facing real pressure. Timothy was leading a church in Ephesus, dealing with false teachers, and watching his mentor Paul sit in a Roman prison. It would have been easy for Timothy to shrink back, to go quiet, to let fear win.
So Paul reminded him of something important: the spirit of fear did not come from God.
That word "spirit" here points to the disposition God placed inside every believer when the Holy Spirit came to live in them, and that Spirit does not carry fear with it. Instead, God gave us power, love, and self-control. Those three things work together beautifully, power gives us the courage to act, love gives us the right reason to act, and self-control keeps us steady when things get hard.
Think about the fears you carry right now. Maybe it is fear of what other people think of you. Maybe it is fear about your health, your finances, or your family. Maybe it is the fear of speaking up about your faith when the moment comes. Those fears are real, and they can feel very heavy, but here is the good news: God has already given you what you need to face them. You do not have to go looking for courage somewhere else. The same Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead lives inside you, that is not a small thing.
Today, when fear starts to creep in, stop and remind yourself of this verse. Say it out loud if you need to. God did not give you a spirit of fear, He gave you power. He gave you love. He gave you a sound mind.
You were not made to live afraid. You were made to live free.
Courage is not simply one of the virtues, but the form of every virtue at the testing point.— C.S. Lewis
