신명기 6:4-5
“이스라엘아 들으라 우리 하나님 여호와는 오직 하나인 여호와시니 너는 마음을 다하고 성품을 다하고 힘을 다하여 네 하나님 여호와를 사랑하라”
Love That Lives Inside You
These two verses come from the very end of John 17, often called the "High Priestly Prayer." Jesus is hours away from the cross, and instead of focusing on Himself, He is praying for His followers. That alone should stop us in our tracks.
Jesus says something beautiful here, He tells the Father that He has made His name known to His people, and that He will keep making it known. The goal? That the same love the Father has for the Son would live inside of us. Think about that for a moment, the love between God the Father and God the Son, a love that has existed forever, is the very love Jesus wants poured into your heart.
The world around us does not know the Father, it chases after things that feel good for a season but leave people empty, but Jesus says "I know you", and because of Jesus, we can know the Father too. That is the whole point of the gospel, Christ came to close the gap between a holy God and broken people like us.
Notice that Jesus says He "will continue" to make the Father known. This is not a one-time event, it is an ongoing work. Through His Word, through His Spirit, and through His people, Jesus keeps revealing who God is to a world that desperately needs to know Him.
So here is the practical question for today: Are you letting Jesus do that work in you? Are you spending time in Scripture, letting Him show you more of who the Father is? Are you sharing what you know with the people around you?
You carry something the world is searching for. Let it show.
God loves us not because of who we are, but because of who He is.— Billy Graham
