Verse of the Day

1 John 4:8

“Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.”

A Kingdom Not Like This

Jesus spoke these words while standing before Pilate, a Roman governor with the power to free Him or sentence Him to death. It was one of the most intense moments in all of Scripture, and yet, Jesus was completely calm. He wasn't scrambling for a way out, He was explaining something Pilate, and honestly most of the world, still struggles to understand.

His kingdom is not of this world.

The kingdoms of this world run on power, force, and self-interest, they rise and fall, they make promises they can't keep. Meanwhile the kingdom Jesus was talking about is different at its very core. It doesn't spread through armies or politics, it spreads through love, sacrifice, and the good news of the gospel. Jesus proved that just hours later when He went to the cross without a fight, laying down His life willingly for sinners like you and me.

This truth matters and needs to model how we live every single day. It's easy to get caught up in the noise of the world, to put our hope in the right leader, the right outcome, or the right circumstances, but Jesus is reminding us that our deepest hope doesn't belong here. We belong to a kingdom that cannot be shaken, one that is eternal and ruled by a King who never loses. That doesn't mean we check out of the world around us, it means we engage it differently. We serve, we love, we share the gospel, because we're citizens of a better kingdom already.

Today, ask yourself where your hope is really resting. If it's in anything this world offers, gently bring it back to the King who stands before Pilate, unshaken, knowing exactly who He is and where He's going. He walked from that courtroom to the cross, and from the cross to an empty tomb. That's the King who holds your future, rest in Him today.

I have but one passion: It is He, it is He alone. The world is the field and the field is the world; and henceforth that country shall be my home where I can be most used in winning souls for Christ.
