출애굽기 14:14
“여호와께서 너희를 위하여 싸우시리니 너희는 가만히 있을지니라”
When God Says Stand Still
Picture the scene, the Israelites have just walked out of slavery in Egypt, and now they are completely stuck. The Red Sea is in front of them, and Pharaoh's army is thundering up behind them, there is nowhere to go. The people are terrified and crying out, and Moses speaks one of the most powerful promises they could imagine: "The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be still."
This was not a moment for strategy or clever thinking, God was not asking His people to come up with a plan, He was asking them to stop, trust, and watch. The same God who sent the plagues and led them out of Egypt was more than able to handle what was coming. They just needed to get out of the way.
The core truth here is simple but hard to live out. God is fully capable of handling the battles in your life, and sometimes the most faithful thing you can do is be still. We live in a world that rewards hustle and noise, and silence can feel like giving up, but biblical silence is not weakness, it is trust. It is saying, "Lord, I believe You are bigger than this problem, and I am going to stop striving and let You work".
Maybe you are facing something today that feels just like the Red Sea, a situation with no clear way forward. God's word to you is the same as it was to Israel: He will fight for you. This means bringing your worry to God in prayer and then choosing to leave it there, it means resisting the urge to fix everything yourself. It means trusting that the God who parted the sea is still working, even when you cannot see it yet. Trust Him.
