Verse of the Day

Philippians 1:4-6

“In every prayer for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”

He Will Finish What He Started

Paul wrote the letter to the Philippians from prison, yet it is one of the most joyful letters in the entire Bible. The church at Philippi held a special place in his heart, they had supported him, prayed for him, and stood with him in spreading the gospel from the very beginning. So when Paul prayed for them, he prayed with genuine joy, not just obligation.

In the middle of that joy, Paul shares very comforting truths. He is confident, not in the Philippians themselves, but in God. The God who started something good in their lives would see it through to the very end. That ending, Paul says, is "the day of Jesus Christ," the day when Jesus returns and everything is made complete.

If you have trusted Jesus as your Savior, God is at work in you right now, not because you are doing everything perfectly, but because He is faithful. Your growth in faith, your love for others, your desire to follow Christ, these are signs that God is already at work, and He does not quit. This is such good news for us today.

Maybe you feel like you are not growing fast enough or you have stumbled and wonder if God is still with you. Take heart, God is not finished with you yet. He started this, and He will complete it.

Today, thank God for the people in your life who have walked alongside you in faith, just as the Philippians walked with Paul, and rest in this simple truth: the same God who saved you is the God who is shaping you, and He will not stop until the work is done.
