Hebrews 11:6
“And without faith it is impossible to please God. For anyone who approaches Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.”
When God Provides a Way
Few moments in Scripture are as gripping as this one. Abraham, the father of faith, had climbed Mount Moriah with his son Isaac, carrying the weight of an impossible command. For three days he walked toward the place where he believed he would have to give up the thing he loved most, and yet he kept walking.
This was not a casual test. Isaac was the miracle child, the son of promise, the one through whom God had said all of Abraham's descendants would come. To offer Isaac meant letting go of every hope and every future God had spoken over him. Abraham's willingness to obey was a complete surrender of his own understanding.
God never intended for Isaac to die. The ram caught in the thicket was already there, waiting. God saw the end of the story before Abraham even took the first step up that mountain. This is the heart of what Abraham named that place that was then called "Yahweh Jireh", which means "The Lord will provide".
The core truth here is that God is faithful, even when we cannot see how. He tests our trust not to break us, but to show us, and sometimes to show the world, what real faith looks like in action.
This story also points forward to a greater sacrifice. God the Father would one day send His own Son, His only Son, to a hill outside Jerusalem, but unlike Isaac, Jesus was not spared. He became the ram in our place, the substitute who took what we deserved so that we could be free.
Are you being asked to trust God with something precious today? Lay it down. The same God who provided for Abraham is watching over you, and He already sees the ram in the thicket.
Faith is not believing that God can, it is knowing that God will.— Ben Stein
