Jeremiah 33:3
“Call to Me, and I will answer and show you great and unsearchable things you do not know.”
When God Says Call Me
Jeremiah 33 was written during one of the darkest moments in Israel's history. The prophet Jeremiah was locked in a prison courtyard, Jerusalem was under siege, and everything around him looked hopeless. It was in that very moment that God spoke these words: "Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known".
Think about what God is actually saying here. He is not telling Jeremiah to figure things out on his own, He is not saying, "Wait until things get better and then come talk to me". He is reaching into a prison, into a crisis, into the middle of a mess, and saying, "Talk to me. I will answer you."
The word translated "hidden" in this verse carries the idea of things that are fenced off or inaccessible to us on our own. There are things about our lives, our futures, and our God that we simply cannot see without Him opening the way. Prayer is that open door, it is the place where God pulls back the curtain and shows us things we could never discover by ourselves.
This is one of the most beautiful invitations in all of Scripture. God does not have to answer us, He is not obligated to explain Himself, but He chooses to. He wants to. He is the God who speaks to His people.
So whatever you are carrying today, bring it to Him. If you feel stuck, confused, or worn down, this verse is for you. God is not distant or distracted, He is leaning in, ready to listen, and ready to answer.
Take a few minutes right now to simply call out to Him.
You do not need fancy words, just come honestly, and trust that the God who spoke to Jeremiah in a prison is the same God who hears you today.
Prayer is not overcoming God's reluctance; it is laying hold of His highest willingness.— George Mueller
