Verse of the Day

Psalm 32:8

“I will instruct you and teach you the way you should go; I will give you counsel and watch over you.”

Breathed Out, Not Voted On

There is a quiet pressure in our culture that says the Bible needs to be updated, softened, and made more agreeable. Some churches have started to bend on things Scripture speaks to clearly, not because they found better arguments, but because the culture got louder, and that should concern every follower of Jesus.

Paul wrote to Timothy from a Roman prison, knowing his time was short. He wasn't writing a theology textbook, he was passing a torch. What he handed Timothy wasn't a collection of good ideas or ancient wisdom to pick and choose from. He said every part of Scripture is "breathed out by God". The Greek word there is theopneustos, which means God-breathed. The Bible isn't just a book about God, it carries His very breath. That changes everything about how we handle it.

When Paul says Scripture is useful for "teaching, reproof, correction, and training in righteousness", he's describing a full picture of how God's Word works in us. It doesn't just comfort us, it corrects us. It doesn't just affirm us, it reproves us. That means some of what it says will feel uncomfortable, and that discomfort isn't a design flaw. It's the point.

Sola Scriptura, the Reformation conviction that Scripture alone is our final authority, isn't just a doctrine to put on a statement of faith, it's a daily posture. It means we don't let cultural trends, popular opinion, or even church tradition overrule what God has clearly said.

So here's the honest question: Is there an area of your life where you've been listening to the culture more than the Word? Maybe in how you think about marriage, money, honesty, or forgiveness?
God's Word is not a menu. We don't get to skip the parts we find inconvenient.

The same breath that gave life to Adam is in these pages. Trust it. Obey it. Let it complete you.
