Verse of the Day

1 Peter 5:10

“And after you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself restore you, secure you, strengthen you, and establish you.”

Held Together by Grace

Peter wrote this letter to scattered, persecuted believers who were losing homes, reputations, and in some cases, their lives for following Jesus. He did not minimize what they were going through. He called it what it was: suffering. But he also pointed them toward something that does not move even when everything else does.

Suffering has a way of making us feel like we are coming apart at the seams. Maybe that is exactly where you are right now. Something broke, and you are not sure it can be put back together.

Notice the four words Peter uses: restore, secure, strengthen, and establish. Each one carries weight. To restore means to mend what has been torn, to secure means to set firm what has been shaken, to strengthen means to fill what has been emptied, and to establish means to ground what has been uprooted. This is not vague comfort, it is a specific, hands-on promise from a God who gets personally involved.

And the One making this promise is described as "the God of all grace", not some grace. Not grace with conditions attached. All grace. That means there is no part of your brokenness that falls outside His reach.

The phrase "a little while" might feel hard to believe when suffering stretches on, but Peter is not being dismissive. He is giving us God's perspective: that even long seasons of pain are brief compared to the eternal glory Christ is calling us into. This life is not the whole story.

Today, bring whatever feels broken to the God who restores, He has not forgotten you.
He called you by name into His glory, and He will see that calling through to the end.

Rest in that. He is doing the work.
