Lamentations 3:25-26
“The LORD is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him. It is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the LORD.”
The Quiet Strength of Waiting
Waiting feels like losing. In a world that rewards the fast and the loud, sitting still with an unanswered prayer can feel like nothing is happening, but Jeremiah, writing from the rubble of a destroyed Jerusalem, saw something different.
The book of Lamentations is a raw, honest cry of grief. The city has fallen, the temple is gone, and the people are broken. Right in the middle of all that pain, Jeremiah writes these words: "The LORD is good to those who wait for Him". He's not writing from a comfortable chair, He's writing from the ashes. That context matters, because it means this is not wishful thinking, it's faith that has been tested.
The core truth here is simple: God's goodness is real, but it often arrives on a timeline we didn't choose. Jeremiah pairs two words that don't usually go together in our minds: "wait" and "good". We tend to think waiting means God is absent or silent, but Jeremiah says waiting is actually where we find out how good God is. The soul that seeks Him, even slowly, even quietly, is the soul that receives Him.
There is also something important in that word "quietly". This is not passive resignation, it is active trust. It means holding on without demanding that God explain Himself right now.
So here is a simple question for you today: Is there something you have been waiting on God for? A relationship, a provision, a healing, an answer? Let Jeremiah's words be a steady hand on your shoulder. Bring your waiting to God in prayer today. Tell Him where you are, ask Him to help you trust His timing.
He is not ignoring you. He is good, and He is near to the soul that seeks Him.
